Introducing My Book!
(Mom, Dad and Auntie Fudge already know most of this, but I thought Grandma and Grandpa might appreciate an explanation...and some writing!
I have somehow managed to not get around to this, even though I've
been trying for about a year or so, but I finally succeeded at the most difficult task of hitting the publish button. Hooray!)
Introducing my Book!
I'm
sure my immediate family can tell you how many times I would announce
that I have a new book idea, and promptly start working on it like
crazy. However, in all the (looooooooong, extensive, ten) years I have been alive, has anyone read a
finished, or even partly finished book I've written?
Fortunately, it appears I have a guardian angel (or devil) in the form of Wattpad.
I
can write a few chapters of a book, but I will eventually lose
inspiration, because I have this nasty habit of wanting results. Clearly other writers had that problem, since Wattpad was created. A free site on which you can publish your stories to the internet chapter by chapter turned out to be my saving grace!
So, on
July 5th of last year (one year from today!), I signed up for Wattpad, wrote the first chapter
of a How to Train Your Dragon Fanfiction, and published it two days
later.
And then, because I am a crazy person,
every day I published a new 1000 - 2000 word chapter of the story.
So
lo and behold, in 31 days I wrote and published an entire book! I ended
up writing 50,000 words (180 pages in small font) in exactly a month! A NaNoWriMo...but in July.
I honestly don't
know how I managed to find time for that, because I now publish a
chapter a week, and have completed the 35,000 word sequel to my first
How to Train Your Dragon Fanfiction, and am in the process of writing
the final installment of the trilogy (15,000 and counting!).
100,000 words in a year! That is definitely a leap from no books at all!
If you are interested in reading my first book, you can find it here.
Just be forewarned, it contains spoilers from every How to Train Your
Dragon movie and every How to Train Your Dragon show and every How to
Train Your Dragon short film. (List in chronological order: How to Train
Your Dragon, DreamWorks Dragons Legends: Gift of the Night Fury,
DreamWorks Dragons Legends: Legend of the Boneknapper, DreamWorks
Dragons Legends: The Book of Dragons, DreamWorks Dragons: Riders of Berk
- Season 1, DreamWorks Dragons: Riders of Berk - Season 2, DreamWorks
Dragons: Defenders of Berk - Season 1, DreamWorks Dragons: Defenders of
Berk - Season 2, DreamWorks Dragons: Race to the Edge - Season 1,

peril. Otherwise, more than 100 hours of film, better start studying!
I have forced Dad to read all my stories, Mom is in the process of reading the second book, and Auntie Fudge is on my first. But I know I promised Grandma and Grandpa a link to the story half a year ago, and here it is, in my usual long-winded form!

I'm on it, Goobie Prince! Uh ... still on the first book i.e. Thank you for your patience. Your new publication has motivated me considerably to resume enjoying your first book. I shall post commentary after each chapter I read on Wattpad.
