Halloween
It doesn't feel like Halloween this year. For me it is a bit of a
bummer because I like Halloween. We did not try to replicate Halloween
because it wouldn't work and wouldn't feel good either. So we made it
up on the spot. I"ll start with the least exciting part of the day.
We
just came back from a walk. It was a 10 minute walk however since I
was there too it took about 30 minutes to finish it. That's my current
speed. Hopefully Cedrus will take a speedy shower so we...I can go to
bed on time!
I was pleased to see that it was mostly quiet. We saw some groups. They were outside, generally had a fire pit going and were *not* socially distancing. They were giving away candy but it was usually placed much further away in a bowl.
We did dress up. Boys used their dance costumes from this year's June show. I had picked up the costumes back in June but boys opened them today. One of Kestrel's costume was missing! Should I complain about it?
Steve
used part of his June show costume and in recognition of covid put on
his jammy pants. And I found the kimono I bought in Japan gazillions of
years ago. I thought it was only appropriate to make use of the wig
hanging in Cedrus' room.
Fudge
had sent us a massive bags of almonds recently so we made fresh almond
milk this morning. The idea was for boys to have it with the Halloween
candy Cedrus made this year. Yes, Cedrus made Snickers, Almond Joy and
Twix. From what I can tell it was a success. Almond Joy was everyone's
favorite. The had a discussion this morning about when to eat which
candy. It was a surprisingly uncontroversial discussion.
Cedrus always takes lots of pics of food but he neglected to sufficiently capture the candy making expedition. I am glad we have a picture of the almond joy and snickers.
In the end, it was a pretty okay Halloween. Good candy, good movie, good food, good company, music making, writing, work on life. And last but not least, Kestrel loves his braids and he looks so good in them that we may have to have him in braids all the time.

Wonderful photos! I'm waiting for the candy delivery here... ;-)
